Glory to the glorious Dessalines!

Praise for the founding father of the Haitian Empire

By Louinel Estimable Published 2 years ago 1 min read
Champ-de-Mars, Port-au-Prince, Haiti

In the year forty-eight of his coming

Of his reign, the third

In full flight like a mighty eagle

Our intrepid general was stopped

The illustrious general who guided the steps

Strengthened the arms of our glorious soldiers

Against the evil hordes of Generals Leclerc and Rochambeau

One 17th October 1806 ended its course at the Red Bridge

Trespassing at the height of his glory

He lived for the dignity and freedom of the oppressed

For the Glory of Haiti the Rebel

Glory to the glorious Dessalines!
