Ghosts Don’t Haunt Me—You Do
And you were never even dead.
By Muhammad RiazPublished 6 months ago • 1 min read

Ghosts don’t wear your perfume.
They don’t leave their songs in my playlists.
They don’t echo your laugh
in the middle of an empty room.
Ghosts don’t send texts
I still can’t delete.
They don’t linger in photos
or smile through old coffee mugs.
Ghosts don’t whisper my name
when I try to move on.
They don’t live
in the pause between heartbeats.
But you—
you haunt me
like a secret I never told.
You’re not dead.
You’re just gone.
And that’s so much worse.
