A poem about encountering a past self

~~~~~~~~~
As I walked the roads alone
I’ve walked so many years ago
A sadness overcame my heart
Shadowing my self of now
As I walk, there stands before
Palest ghost, my own cold sore
Poorest little creature there
Alone and filled with such despair
So I just went standing where
With tears I watered grass and earth
Rivers formed from seeing her
Ghost of my own trauma stirred
My heart to break right there anew
For mercy that she never knew
~~~~~~~~~

Left in distance, far away

My soul again searches its way

Again trying to let it go

What happened all so long ago

Only after I refound

Dragon’s fire my soul bound

Waking up it burned away

The scars to fade another day
