Getting Lucky
A year was spent
making preparations
for a trip of a lifetime to
Italy.
Flights were booked,
hotel reservations made
and our plan to leave on
February 14
was put into action!
Touring Rome
Florence, Venice—
sublime!
Our 2-week whirlwind
of pre-planned activity and
every detail went off as
planned!
It was only after arriving
back home we realized
we had simply got
lucky.
*While this was not my own direct experience (I was vacationing in Mexico and returned home March 1, just as serious concerns regarding coronavirus were beginning to emerge in North America) I'm certain that countless visitors to Europe had no idea how much danger they were in while traveling, and felt a huge sense of relief arriving home just as the news of the pandemic broke.
