the gaps rule this family.
the unsaid words
lingering.
the pregnant pauses of our conversations.
anger is left to fester and rot
beneath the surface of that paper-thin muscle.
it's hard to say I love you.
it's hard to say, I hate you.
the words are just as strong as the emotion.
they are heavy.
they drag the heart
and transform into ornaments.
the gap between the conversations;
the gap between the sentences;
the gap between the words;
the gap between the gaps.
it all piles up,
until I can no longer see you
and all I see is the gap between me and you.
