Games, words and nothingness
a modern day life study
All that anyone including
Barry Mitchell
Could actually and peacefully
Do was to think about
Every moment until
Friday came and added some break in the mundane of
Growing-up in a small town that was neither
Here nor there.
Is it insane to want to change or
Just go about your business and
Keep quiet about it all while
Letting the adults in the world like
Mister Robinson and that old man
Nutterbug (as we called our teacher) who only
Occasionally seemed like a real person who
Put on normal clothes and didn't jangle
Quarters in his pocket on dates or wander
Round the store looking for a date when we knew he got them off the
Street corner in the bad part of town where they stood on the bus
Turnouts waiting for the next car to come by
Until the dawn broke and they went home to sleep or play
Video games or maybe
Watching romance movies until the drugs
X-ed out the fact that they were in the same place this
Year and nothing would change for them without
Zero effort put in to make a difference.
I hope you like my strange poem/life study. If you want a fun treat, read only the first word of each line. If you want to give me a treat, please leave a tip.
