The day is busy but at least she’s not bored,
She’s thankful her mind has plenty to do,
Challenged mentally, a game she enjoys,
Fulfilling her hours with gratitude.
**
She’s looking forward to the future,
As terrifying as the plans may be,
Knowing the pain of loss is coming,
But she made the choice to set herself free.
**
She’ll roll with the punches,
She’ll break again and again,
But she’ll continue to stand tall,
Facing her pain.
**
For that is life, is it not?
The ups and downs of a roller coaster ride,
Gaining fortitude from every fall,
And resilience from the strength she refuses to hide.
**
She dreams big, even though they bring her fear,
For life is for the living,
For those that push through their adversity,
Smiling and forgiving.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

This was so powerful and optimistic! Loved your poem my friend!
Yep, life is full of ups and downs. We just need to keep getting up. Great poem, thanks for posting it!
Yeah, I can definitely see you & Frances McDormand (Nomadland, Fargo) trading places. You got fire & grit.
