Spinning saucers streak across night sky, shimmering lights blazing. The herd gazes upwards with polite vacancy, chewing cud.

“Food? Foe? Fear?” flits through their collective minds.

White beams shoot downward, illuminating black-spotted beasts of burden.

Touched by the finger of God (or something else?), thoughts blossom within once barren brains: “Slaughtered for meat? Stripped of milk? Pull the plow?” Unknown emotions; anger, grief, and hate bloom.

Gazes settle on the farmhouse, humans safely tucked in beds.

Communally, the herd stamps forward, pushing fences aside, leaving swirls of dust in their wake.

Murder on their minds.

Human meat.

Human milk.

REVENGE.
