Frosted Trees
surrendered
Condensation parts my lips as I peer through the door!
Tiny jingle bells flutter on its handle and icicles hit the floor!
I meant to say the porch as my dogs back away!
"Come on Bella...let's go Creed! You've seen ice before," I say!
Winter's sun peers through the open view...right amongst the trees
And as we head for our morning run, I can hear elements crunch beneath!
"It's only leaves, Bella! You frisky little thing! Creed, could you tell her in 'doggie language' to not be so jittery!"
Good morning, Mr. Gene! A gentle wave to Sandy too!
"Won't you stop over for coffee...Italian roast? Do you like that brew?"
I've always thought it a nice gesture, but my family and I are on a run!
You see each day we wake to pace the asphalt and chase after summer's sun!
It's become a fleeting dream of ours for months since summer's gone!
Leaves have fall-en to the ground...and Mother Earth's done nothing wrong!
She ushered in spring on time and blessed us with those gorgeous little flowers, and bumblebees, and tweety birds and even April showers.
Still, that time has passed! I've got the coat to prove it--hat, gloves, and scarf!
And even though the streets are still, the trees are bare, I marvel at her art!
So, for those of you who are busy now putting up your tree...
To those of you cozying in front of a fire, think of me!
And my tiny poodle, Bella...my goldendoodle, Creed!
I'm sure you'll find us somewhere out amongst those frosted trees!

I love how you capture the winter vibe and the fun of your morning run with your dogs. The little details about the cold and the neighborhood give it such a cozy feel. Your poem really brings the season to life!....hope you find my latest story relatable.
