Frost Moon

a love poem

By the time the

Frost Moon lights the

Northern Bay, the

gemstone leaves have

dropped toward Earth,

and their branches—

bare and naked—

glitter in the long,

dark night,

like diamonds

*

To spot you in the rough of

winter, love,

I’ve mined through meadows full

of avalanche and

ruin,

breathing crystal clouds of strength

and fret into the cold,

sharp air,

never doubting for

a moment that

your spirit soon

will bloom here,

where flakes of sky (in shapes)

of flowered snowfall lift

my hollowed heart,

drifting to and

fro

about me,

calling life back to

the dead

and lost

and gone of me (and of)

my frozen,

shattered essence—

resting only for

a moment on my

numb,

flushed cheeks,

as if a kiss

of this

December storm turned

soft

and docile in

the sun’s apricity

and promise, for

any touch from you—

the swift,

brisk brush of

squall and snowflake down

my labored,

tattered backbone—

is enough for me

to understand

-to know-

.:to trust:.

(that you)

exist

*

If I could keep

these fragile beads of sky

from melting,

(if I)

could catch them in a bottle like

I do the

fireflies of June, I

could sort your soul

(out of a)

crowd of frosted auras—

sow you as a

.:snowdrop seed:. and

grow you as my

own small Arctic snow angel,

perhaps,

in this fallow field where

dormant dreams and

brumal violets bud

despite

a sleeping world that pays no

mind to all the

beauty here

in waiting

*

I can feel you in

the presence of

the Frost Moon—

in its ephemeral passage

(through)

the ice veil of

the night—and

I shall not give up (for)

I do not know how to:

I’ll sift and

shovel through the

wreck of winter and

its chaos,

I’ll outrun day-loss (chase)

the sands of your

.:and my own:. time,

for underneath this lunar,

pale blue lantern,

ice-crystals appear as

moondust…

I’ll spot

-I’ll catch-

I’ll get to love you soon, I know—

✨YOU✨:

my diamond in the

evanescent

Frost Moon rough

I liked how you started off simple, and then it developed into more magnificent and sophisticated word play. Wow, this line ‘ To spot you in the rough of winter, love, I’ve mined through meadows full of avalanche and ruin’ {{ its like you’re using the earths natural disaster as a way to describe failed attempts at finding love… or perhaps… recognising true love. As I get down to here ‘ to understand -to know- .:to trust:. (that you) exist ‘ {{ I am blown away at how closely linked you are to the earth and its changing season —that you also become it —that you can relate back to us exactly what being inside the body but sensitive to its sensation is all about. Most of us are out of touch with the body, most of us can’t tell one limb from the other because life has chewed us up. But reading this born is very close to a rebirth. Deeply healing. ‘ a .:snowdrop seed ‘ oh my word. This is so original so mind blowing how our human brains can come up with things like these. I quite like that idea, ‘… grow you as my own small Arctic snow angel’ {{ oh how I wish we could do this, you have me here in dreamland even though I am fully awake. ‘ for underneath this lunar, pale blue lantern, ice-crystals appear as moondust’. {{{ at this point, I will close my lips and withdraw my fingers because this just made me speechless. Oh the amount of work that must’ve gone into this. This piece was magical and humbling, oh how we don’t appreciate the beauty around us enough. A huge well done to you for this piece and congratulations for your 3rd place win under most discussed stories on this weeks leaderboard 🎉🎊🎉🤗♥️
