From the Heart

A flicker of hope brought on by a smile, a kind word, and a friendly ear.

Creek leading up to Helen Hunt Falls, Colorado Springs, Colorado taken by E. R. Trinity

I want to thank you for helping me

Find my smile once more

While in my darkest of times

With Pain knocking at my door

A symbol of compassion

A beautiful flame in the dark

Your soul spoke to me volumes

Of what’s true in your heart

The pain you were feeling

Facing your own hell

And yet you chose to share comfort

With someone you knew not well

Your kind gesture gave hope

To a near broken old soul

One who was thought lost

In the bitterness of cold

And though I had deeper

In my darkness to go

Your flickering memory lingered

To guide me from below
