From Snow to Summit

Whispers of Frost and Fire

By Ahsan AhmadPublished 2 years ago 2 min read

In the hush of winter’s breath, I stood—

A solitary figure, frost-kissed and weary.

The snowflakes whispered secrets, soft and cold,

Their delicate dance a map of forgotten paths.

Gone was the lavender haze,

Summer days shrouded in a daze,

A fortnight of forever lost,

In the ice, I paid the cost.

Little did we know, Fate was keeping count,

We serenaded in the chorus, but our bridges burned.

Help. I'm losing us—our love unspooled,

And the heartache hardened into a mirror that shattered me.

I climbed through tears, each step a plea,

For every promise broken, a memory.

From Cornelia Street scattered with shards of tomorrow,

To the summit, seeking solace from this sorrow.

No promises were made, no vows exchanged,

Only the raw sincerity of each breath,

The rhythm of struggle and surrender,

As I carved my path through ice and silence.

Step by step, I ascended.

The mountain loomed, its peak obscured,

Yet something within me stirred—

A fire, a longing for heights uncharted.

Seared by the burgundy stain, an apology is just a Band-aid,

What would've, could've, should've—too quiet to sleep.

Always Fall in love. Never cruel Summer,

Our story, a twilight saga fading in the deep.

The wind carried echoes of ancient tales,

Of those who dared to climb beyond reason,

Their hearts aflame with purpose,

Their footsteps etching stories into stone.

And there it was—the summit,

A throne of clouds and endless sky.

No one helped me, they say,

But the mountain whispered otherwise.

For in the quietude of that rarefied air,

I found companionship in the elements,

A kinship with the peaks and valleys,

And a promise unspoken but understood.

But I hope it’s not too late, babe,

Sorry, From Snow to Summit.

Cause tryin’ broke us more than cryin’,

Yet in the universe’s design, we might find—

From snow to summit, our hearts realigned.

So let us climb, my friend,

Not for accolades or applause,

But to touch the sky with our fingertips,

And know that sometimes, no one helps us—

Except the universe itself.

And from snow to summit,

We become both seeker and guide,

Leaving footprints for others,

A testament to the journey we’ve embraced.
