From Here To There
A poem about a certain path
Each day I wake
and walk a little further
this path, from here to there.
When I was young
it was more open fields
than path:
I would wander
more in wonder
than with aim.
With the passing years
the path has become
more defined,
deeper, wider,
the grass of my youth
replaced
by the bare earth
of experience.
Occasionally, there are obstacles:
those days where nettles
encroach from all sides
or a landslide gives you
boulders to scramble over.
But generally, these days
the path is worn smooth
and deep
the polished earth
guiding me effortlessly
to the final destination:
just so long,
as it doesn't rain!

I love the concept of the path changing with age and experience
beautiful imagery
This is a great metaphor for life and how the seasons of time change us. Inspiring to read, it seems life is much smoother for you now, Niall. A sweet read.
In the end, we'd always make it. Loved your poem!
Lovely words and great accompanying image. I often wander familiar paths and see different things from different points
