From Aches to Xanadu
Battling Covid
Aches assault my muscles and
Bones causing me to moan and groan.
Could this be what everyone fears?
Diagnosis from a quick stripe test.
Each red line be be highlighted.
For it to be shown as positive.
Gathering strength to take a test,
High fevers strike, spiking my temps to new heights.
Icky taste in my mouth join to my private hell.
Jolts of piercing pain
Kills my desire to reach for my water.
Leave me be, I want to shout!
Maybe another 24 hours, then I will feel better.
No, it’s lasting longer!
Overwhelming pleas for sleep, yet to no anvil.
Pounding heart
Quivers too
Reaching for
Soup,
Tylenol, now Advil
Ultimate fever and pain busters to achieve
Victory which soon will be in my grasp
Waiting for few more days to return to my life of
Xanadu!
Yearning to be free of this
Zoonotic catastrophe spiraled into this virus we now call Covid.

Zoonotic what a great word! Wonderful poem
Great job on this, and great job still being able to get to writing in while sick. Hope you feel better soon.
SO good! I'm happy to see you still creating considering how you are feeling.
Well written! Very good description of that bad virus. An ingenious use of the abcs. Hope you recover soon! 🍀🕊️
I have been lucky enough not to have experienced this, but wowza, you described it well
The use of alphabetical progression adds a structured and rhythmic quality to the poem, Well-crafted!
This was so fun and relatable. I love how you worked X and Z in so uniquely - those are such a struggle to make work haha
