From A Broken Heart
Three Dizain Poems as Verses & One Pastoral Poem As Chorus For This Country Song
The weight of love once pressed upon my chest
Yet now the chains have snapped, and I am free
No longer bound, no longer second-best
I shape my world, just as it ought to be
The night is mine, the dawn belongs to me
Though echoes linger, whispering your name
They fade like embers lost upon the air
I walk alone, yet never feel the same—
A heart once broken learns how not to care,
And from the wreckage, rises bright and rare.
*
Beneath the sky so wide and free,
The golden fields call out to me.
The river hums, the blossoms sway,
The gentle wind drifts pain away.
*
The road ahead is wide, unmarked, unknown,
Yet every step is lighter than before.
No love but mine now claims me as its own,
No voice but mine decides to close a door.
I chase the dreams I used to just ignore.
The stars above shine brighter in my eyes,
No tether holds me back from where I go.
The past may call, but I will not revise—
A heart that mends will learn to love it so,
And in its healing, let the new light grow.
*
No sorrow lingers in the trees,
Their branches dance with careless ease.
The lark’s sweet tune, the lamb’s soft bleat,
Sing peace beneath the sun’s warm heat.
*
Alone does not mean lost or left behind,
But standing firm upon unshaken ground.
The past was smoke that once confused my mind,
Yet now the air is clear, the world unbound.
No love is better than a love unsound.
The music plays, and I begin to dance,
My laughter rising with the silver moon.
What once was sorrow turns into a chance—
For love may come, but never comes too soon,
And until then, I’ll sing my own sweet tune.
*
The earth is wide, the world is new,
With every dawn, a brighter blue.
No past can bind, no grief remains,
The nature soothes, the soul regains.
