There are people who enter our lives for a reason
Some temporarily to teach us a lesson
Some briefly with bad intentions
Others permanently who are a blessing
We all mean different things to people
Some are passerbys, enemies, acquaintances, family or friends
Some are friends that become family and stay in our lives til the end
I’ve had all types of people enter my life
Some sadly left over time
Ironically the best thing to happen
Getting taken for granted time after time
Having a wall up
Protects us from pain
Unfortunately it also keeps out
Those from whom we have the most to gain
Emotions are hard to contain
They run extremely deep
Keeping up that wall
Helps us better sleep
Breaking down the wall
Is extremely hard to accomplish
It takes courage and vulnerability
And the right person to trust in
Im very outgoing in public
Yet very private in general
Im just overly open n honest
With one person to be technical
Extreme trust allows for disagreements
Due to pure honesty and advice
It’s healthy and normal to get hurt
Once in a while
When you entrust someone w your feelings and life
Sometimes we don’t expect
The friendships that we make
We just have to be grateful for their overall support,
Their belief in us and their faith.
Friendships can last forever
No matter the amount time spent or distance
It’s the quality of the bond
That keeps it alive and in existence.
I’ve learned so much about life
And how we all have different needs
It’s all about sacrifice and communication
That allows the friendship to succeed.
Boundaries are necessary
To respect each other’s space
They allow for personal growth
And prevent overwhelming by mistake
True friends are rare to find
Respect and loyalty are a must
Never take advantage of them
Or make them lose their trust.
