Friends of Mine
The Friends of Mankind
Not much I love more, than a pleasant hand
Who lends to enemies, more so than friends
Let it show the sappy moon shines
On the sunny, lovely, forgiving critters I call
Friends of mine, and Oh
So sunny the smiles of time, who gives
A pleasantly forgetful hand, to these
Young, jolly, fun creatures, I call
Friends of mine
And sadly my friends, who are a levity to mankind
Whose youth and jolly fun, I’d always remind
Cannot find time to be the old friends of mine
Those friends of mine, sunny, lovely, the forgiving kind
Young, jolly, and fun, I come to find,
Are the friends of adolescence, they’ve run and hide
In the happy thoughts, somewhere in the adult mind
Time, where have you taken my friends—
Those friends of mine? Who forever shine,
In my adult, boorish, and saddest state of mind
