Friends and Lovers and Strangers

More than eight billion of us trying to figure it out.

I was dying when we met

But you couldn't have killed me softly

Life is not for the week or foolhardy

For it only leads one to regret

-

Live like you are forever young

Be fooled by nobody about its ease

Accept every challenge the fates might throw your way

Keep fighting like there's no tomorrow, until the story is done

-

Love hard and long, for as long as there is light

Never forget the things that truly matter most

Experiences and time with loved ones are your gems

All of which are worth putting up a fight

-

Faces in the winds of time will forever be on your side

Love rings true when you know they'll always be happy to see you

And be there for the young lions as you each get old

From fate, none of you can successfully hide

-

Music in the summer's heat rings in your memories, my friend

Those who were with you were always a part of who you are

Forget not the laughter and childish irreverence of those days

To time and changes in your lives, you will each eventually bend

-

It is a great big world filled with wonder and delight

Holding hands on a moonlit stroll

Running through the darkness, oh what a magical joy

A soft kiss under the bright moonlight

-

Be as brave as romantic, as smart as you are wise

For not all of your time will be spent under the best of circumstances

It is with time you'll go through hells untold

Eventually, you'll all lose something special behind your eyes

-

Age is not the dark and evil thing deemed by the young

We carry it with pride if we're smart enough to have bigger numbers

Many times, thinking we'd not make it to this many candles on the cake

Remembering always, all of the good and bad things, we had our fun

-

And all should wonder about a question unanswered through the ages

It reared its head so infrequently across the lands, like a unicorn

There are magics to be found if the next can solve the problem

Why, at only land and seas apart, did we not get along on history's pages

-

Some have lived a thousand lives with hardly a picture to show

Not all lives are worth the pain we suffer day in and day out

Keep close the special brave ones who lived strongly and learned

They'll be the ones guaranteed to grieve when it is your time to go
