Life is the great Fable.
This land, the true Albion.
Like the wind sweeping you up the hill,
so does the Universe aid you in your quest.
And if you will but sense its presence,
you will find the strength, the courage
to persist,
to persevere
until you've reached the top.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ * ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Faith, for if you knew the
length of the road ahead,
you may fear your inability
to complete the such a journey
and would never strike out
upon the path or even its origin.
It is precisely that
unknowing
which strengthens us most.
For you know not
the day nor the hour,
thus you must prepare to achieve receive
the fruition of all your
dreams & efforts
at any
and every moment.
Live a life of 'prepared expectation'
and the face of your dreams
will always be able to find you.
We are all One. To give to another is to give to one's Self!
There is nothing to teach, nothing to accomplish.
There is only to give, and to receive.
To do both well is to know God.
Your relationships with and emotions toward others
are a direct reflection of
your relationship with and emotions toward yourself.

This journal entry was written the day-after an * E P I C * hike in the hills near my home-at-the-time.
The day before that hike (12/21/2011), I had gone on a long run, and was fittingly sore and tired when I began the hike on 12/22.
No sooner had I begun, I wanted to be done.
I put up a mental fight, knowing the next day (12/23, the day of this entry) was a travel day and I would be sitting a lot. Plus, I was traveling home for the Holidays, which would mean even more sitting.
Still, despite the impending sit-fest, my mind (and body) would have been alright with me just calling it quits on this hike and going back home.
I shook this off -- mentally and physically. We hike.
If you've ever hiked in the area of Malibu Canyon, you may have experienced some pretty legendary gusts of wind blowing in from the Pacific. A region-specific blend of salt, cold, and vigor.
I lived 11 miles inland from the ocean. So far up Malibu Canyon that it was now called 'Las Virgenes Canyon'. Often, the gusty squall that rolled in from Malibu had dissipated by the time it got to my place. A breezy 5ish mph zephyr to blow through my imaginary hair atop my bald head.
Today was a zephyr day. Beautiful and calm. Bright and magnificent like so many Southern California days (even/especially in late December).
The moment I mentally made up my mind: We hike; I was on the first and steepest incline of this route.
Out of nowhere, a somehow-still-salty-11-overland-miles-later Pacific gust hit me in the back at 25 mph.
Like a guiding hand on the small of my back, The Wind stayed with me the entire way up that first, steepest hill. A sustained 25 mph Wind carried me up a hill that typically takes 22 minutes to tackle in its entirety -- in just over 12.
The *moment* I reached the top, The Wind promptly guttered out and returned to that 5 mph zephyr, where it remained for the duration of the two-hour hike.
I couldn't make this up. My imagination wouldn't allow me to be so on-the-nose.
Life is always supporting us.
I'm terrible at seeing this sometimes.
And sometimes I'm awesome at seeing it.
Life supports me, whether I see it or not.
π¬Lucky me. π³ππ

"Live a life of 'prepared expectation' and the face of your dreams will always be able to find you." I adore these lines. (Though they are in quoted formatting, they are your words, yes?) My goal in life is to have a "prepared expectation" towards everything, so as not to feel so anxious or disappointed by everything. I find I've not found others who do that! So incredible to read it here. You take it to the next level, that dreams will find you. I find that this resonates truthfully. Such an encouraging poem, and so well composed.
Your poetry is deep and moving, and you are making me miss my hikes on the coast. Keep em coming, Tony!
This is a flailing face entry for sure. π€¦π½ββοΈEvery single solitary line is moving, deep, and profound. I read through this several times and each piece swirled together in a beautiful symphony of presence, inspiration, awakening, understanding, healing. Far too many gems that flow seamlessly together to single out one small bit. WE HIKE! I truly love this. Hiking is my favorite thing in the world- and *epic* hike at that! β¨π«What an absolutely incredible moment, to be assisted by the wind- to be gently cared for/boosted by the Universe- "if you will but sense it's presence" (deep peaceful sigh) βWE are ALL ONEβ...Yes! π― Yes! β¨Your healing is my healing!β¨ Thank you for sharing these pieces of your journey- as I said about the last one- they are SO POWERFUL! ππ½π«β¨
Gosh, your poem was so uplifting and powerful! I totally agree with we are all one. How we treat others is how we treat ourselves. Your handwriting is beautiful!
Oh I love this. Funnily enough I thought Fable and Albion meant something, in the recesses of my mind haha! This is just awesome, Tony, though. I love the fact that your sharing such an important point in your life from the past, I love the stunning poem...I could share most lines, and highlight them because they are all dripping with important truths and insights...I do like how you end it though "Your relationships with and emotions toward others are a direct reflection of your relationship with and emotions toward yourself." So so true. I loved the insight behind the journal entry and, as you said, "actual footage" of the entry from the actual journal. That reminds me of video game ads were they either say "not actual footage from game" or "actual footage from game" haha. Simply fantastic work, mate!
Loved this line, " It is precisely the unknowing that strengthens us the most." Beautiful β₯οΈ
