A Christmas Eve Reverie

By Horace WasPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Underneath the sparkle of delicate light,

The world feels delicate, the stars are bright.

In each murmur of the air,

Is love, lingering everywhere.

The snow falls tenderly, cold and sweet,

A sheet laid at winter's feet.

Each flake that tumbles from the sky,

Resembles a memory floating by.

The fire crackles, warm and near,

Its moving fires pursue our fear.

Laughter spills like silent rain,

Filling masses with joy again.

Around the table, cheeks glow,

As stories, old and recent, bestow

A feeling of belonging, rich and true,

In each soul, hope is finally renewed.

The house is filled with aromas of spice,

A wreath of bliss, so pure, so nice.

The adoration we share, however words fall short,

Wraps us all in its tranquil fort.

In periods still, when time is still,

We feel the harmony, a yearning filled.

A request of much obliged, a quiet cry,

For those we love, at this point not nigh.

The tree, embellished with delicate delight,

Mirrors the sparkle of hearts this night.

A star above, so hallowed, so high,

Guides weary spirits as they draw nigh.

Customs tie us, always near,

An inheritance we hold so dear.

In each gift, in each song,

We find where we belong.

So let the snow fall delicate and deep,

As memories mix and delicately weep.

For its during the season, that hearts unite —

A Christmas Eve, the world alight.

With each tear, a love reborn,

An expectation that ascents with the dawn.

In Christmas' arms, we track down our grace,

As time stops in this holy space.
