Freedom

Pride

By Breianna RichardsonPublished 5 years ago 3 min read

What does the word freedom even mean?

Is it a way for the world to trick us to think that our existence is seen?

Is it just a word to hide the truth that we can’t actually be our true selves and who we really are?

Or is it a code word for being watched no matter how near or far?

The beauty that we have to hide inside

This anger we have to show because of these unlawful laws we have to abide.

Losing hope because of all the negative things we hear

Having to hide our tears and our fear

Being knocked down emotionally because of who we love

Even physically, it gets worse from push to shove.

Am I supposed to be silenced because of who I am and what I have to say?

Am I supposed to wake up and expect for the world to darken my day?

Sure, I’ve lied but I’ve also hurt

I’ve had men disown me and toss my loyalty and trust in the dirt!

But they’re part of the world who agreed to tear me down

What is this energy I’m sensing? This negativity I’m around.

Where do you go if you can’t turn to the very person you trusted?

What do you do when they tell you your truth is out, you’re busted?

All these questions I have I feel I just might have the answer to

Question is, how do I reach out? What should I to do?

I’m going to give some words that you should take as a lesson

This will give you peace to the word above in question.

You have to find the beauty in your pain

Even when you’re lost, even when you can’t tell if your completely sane

Find your purpose and love who you love, you can’t do it in vain

The beauty in true love is that it shines through all your darkness and even the rain.

You’re afraid and that okay

Don’t feel offense by the word I’m about to say

You’re you, you’re beautiful and your gay

But again, that’s okay.

Your rainbow shines brighter than any image you’ve ever seen

You’re broken? No what do you mean?

Who is the world to judge for being who you are?

If you’ve gotten to read this, don’t give up because your strength has gotten you this far.

You are stronger than anyone you probably know

You standing strong is how I know, and every passing tear it will show.

My favorite word for amazing wonderful humans like you is glow.

You shine brighter than any diamond I’ve ever saw

The beauty you’re not afraid to hide, not even a flaw

That’s being human and what make you like any straight person you see

Hell, you even bring out the strength in me.

I would never judge you because of who you love or how

Love has no gender or color it exists here and now

I’m going to ask again, what does the word freedom mean to us all?

Because to me, it’s the world praying on our downfall.

But to allow ourselves our own freedom is something totally different

I’ll tell you about it but first! Stop considering yourself as non-existent.

You are another human who has the right to change the world in every way you can

No matter what place in power you’re standing in now you are still a woman or a man

You are just as meaningful and strong as any human has the right to be

Even if I never meet the person who reads this, you’re important to me

Splash your colors without regret or shame

As of this moment make the world listen as you speak your name.

No matter who you are, no matter who you become

Your freedom is yours, so allow it to be defined as brightly as the sun!

Because the word freedom does not apply to the world or a hand written law

Look in the mirror, it applies the person you just saw.

Let go of the judgement and the hate

You have to allow yourself to accept your fate

That is, love and the biggest thing you have to allow in your heart, that’s peace

The world freedom is the energy you release.

Stand on your word to become the only one person you can be

Everyday I’m loving the woman I am and becoming, no man will define me

At this very moment I think you’re finally allowing yourself to be free

You’ve made it to the end, so that doesn’t surprise me.

One more thing, I have to say it again

Allow yourself freedom, that’s how you win!
