Free Will’s Irony

….

By Marvelous MichaelPublished about a year ago 1 min read

We call it free will,

a gift wrapped in choices,

but each choice comes with a cost,

a price we don’t see until it’s paid.

____

We dance in the illusion,

basking in the freedom,

unaware that every step

ties us to something deeper.

_____

In the end, it’s not so free—

this “will” we cherish.

For its bound in chains unseen.

_____

We choose,

but who controls the consequence?

God or the devil,

the cost is always there.

______

Two beings, Two paths

One choice to make— each leads to a price.

______

The irony is stark:

we hold the power,

yet we’re bound by the price.

Free will, they say,

but freedom is never free.

____

What a shame to revel in the liberty

Of a price you can’t pay.

Sold by a dealer you didn’t once acclaim,

Hence now your soul must pay.

____

The irony is bitter—

you’re just borrowing,

and the debt will come due.

That first stanza says it all. You’ve written a powerful poem.❣️ FREE WILL definitely can be the downfall, right?
