You said I was a gem.
Shined me up,
spit me out,
crushed me into fairy dust.
Now I’m left,
picking up the pieces
of what remains—
mere particles of ash,
sprinkled in the sea,
drowning with my dignity.
You didn’t deserve me,
and now I’m nothing—
just the empty space between
tiny specks of my debris,
floating.
Will I ever be whole again?
Is it possible to mend
what you destroyed in me—
like kintsugi
or Humpty Dumpty?
Resuscitate me!
Put me back together again,
for what was broken
is not the end—
It is simply where I begin.
