Forward March

Don't look back now

Taken hiking in South Lake Tahoe by K.B. Silver

I can not

I will not ever

go back now

I will keep marching

forward in time

to the ever-quickening

beat of the forest song

I will disappear

meld with the verdant

growing cloud

of sisters who have found

the path of truth

they didn’t walk

they ran, they trekked

staggered their way

through a seemingly

endless expanse no

help for their weary

heart or feet

I watched some pass

some fall behind

I couldn’t pick them up

but I cheered them

with my heart

soul, voice, and mind

I am waiting here now

for all of your hands

to join in companionship

to call out to your pain

rally your hope

and raise you up to where

you can finally stand

come

fight with me

in the light

where we all belong

together
