Stories Never Let Their Authors Be Forgotten

You wouldn’t put our friendship to shame.

It’s just for a while. I’ll see you again,

I hope. Do you still remember my name?

//

Why would you leave your work alone and maimed?

I don’t respect an author so lumpen

That they put their own work to shame.

//

Please, I don’t want to play this stupid game.

Tell me it’s over and pick up your pen.

Do you even still remember my name?

//

You might as well set my pages aflame

If we can’t get what we had back then

I’m tired of this lonely life of shame.

//

It’s not your fault. You don’t deserve the blame.

You’re gone, and I’ll never see you again.

But I’ll still remember my author’s name.

//

It’s not fair for me to carry our fame.

They know the story, but forgot the pen.

How could I put your memory to shame?

I will never let them forget your name.
