Forgive And Forget?

Is that really what's right?

BFrom a young age we're told to forgive and forget,

But I believe that's not the right mindset.

When your heart is hurt and your trust is broken,

You need much more than an apology token.

Why should you forgive when you weren't in the wrong?

How can you forget and just play along?

You should not forgive when the wrong was a choice,

You should not forget, you'll always hear that inner voice.

They say "fool me once shame on you",

But why should you be shamed for something you didn't do?

You can move on and you can overcome,

But never forget the things that were done.

Don't be naive and don't be obsessed,

With someone's conscious choice who you gave your best.

You're strong, you're worthy, don't let yourself be taken for granted.

If someone can't see that, find someone who's wanted,

A friend, a partner, a family member,

Know your worth, know you're truth, and never surrender.

Mistakes can be made and hurtful things can be said,

But there is nothing more powerful than actions instead.

If someone is sorry, they'll prove it everyday.

To make you understand in every way.

So never forgive and don't ever forget.

But move on or move past, it's your choice don't fret
