Relinquishing.

Carefully collecting in the corners of the shelves piles the dust-

-exclusively existing as a reminder of abandonment.

This is accompanied by a raging silence-

-roaring so loudly that I can feel my brain about to explode.

This experience brings about these familiar feelings… a racing heartbeat…

Shortness of breath.

Insecurity, Invalidation…

Jealousy, anger…

Rage!

I do not want this anymore, and I’m fairly certain that the other party has long since forgotten…

I will always remember, but the memories are placed up high on a shelf…

Out of reach…

…collecting dust.

I love this one - there is a lot of symbolism in a piano for sure!

This resonates with me. Sometimes I look for a way to let go. Amazing work! I loved it. Congratulations on Top story!

  • Love the image of memories high up and out of reach - weird though that they are always there, shifting with time. Beautiful piece and congrats also 💜 C

What a powerful and genuine piece of poetry. There is a great deal of unrecognized might in letting go or relinquishing. Congratulations on achieving a Top Story, too.

A very authentic and emotional expression in this piece. The abandonment line was very well written and I know how you feel even when I'm not abandoned. Isn't passion such an unexplainable essence? Probably why they chose to rename it "addiction". Addiction sounds like a bad thing, whereas Passion sounds necessary.

  • This hit me so hard. Loved your poem!
