Forevermore

A Song About Love and Saying Goodbye

By Gregory T. PaschalPublished 5 years ago β€’ 1 min read

(VERSE)

On a dark and stormy night

when I was five years old...

I found a girl about my age

who was all alone and cold.

She crawled out of the wreckage

but here folks both wound up dead.

As I turned to walk away

she held my hand and said:

(CHORUS)

Please don't leave me behind!

Lord only knows what's in store.

It's a miracle I found you

and I don't want you to go.

Please stay with me forevermore.

(VERSE)

That was a lifetime ago.

As you may have foretold...

She became my wife

and we were 85 years old.

I held her hand by her hospital bed.

As she closed her eyes I cried,

looked at her and said:

(CHORUS)

Please don't leave me behind!

Lord only knows what's in store.

It's a miracle I found you

and I don't want you to go.

Please stay with me forevermore.
