Forever Sixteen: A Poem for My Teenage Best Friend
In Memory of the Laughter and Tears We Shared
We laughed and joked every day,
Inseparable, we had found our way,
Through thick and thin, we stood side by side,
Our friendship, an unbreakable tie.
But life can be cruel, and it dealt us a blow,
The memories of you, they refuse to go,
I lost my best friend, and it's hard to bear,
The pain of your absence, it's too much to bear.
We talked about our dreams and goals,
Sharing our secrets, our fears, and our roles,
We had a bond that was hard to break,
Our laughter, a sound that could never fake.
But life can be cruel, and it dealt us a blow,
The memories of you, they refuse to go,
I lost my best friend, and it's hard to bear,
The pain of your absence, it's too much to bear.
I miss the late-night conversations we had,
The way we cheered each other up when we were sad,
I miss the fun times and the endless laughter,
The way you were always there, no matter what came after.
But life can be cruel, and it dealt us a blow,
The memories of you, they refuse to go,
I lost my best friend, and it's hard to bear,
The pain of your absence, it's too much to bear.
Now you're gone, but you're never forgotten,
Your memory will live on, and your spirit unbroken,
I'll keep the memories close, and never forget,
My teenage companion, my best friend, my soulmate.
But life can be cruel, and it dealt us a blow,
The memories of you, they refuse to go,
I lost my best friend, and it's hard to bear,
The pain of your absence, it's too much to bear.
