Forever (In a minute)

A mother's song to her flying child.

By Marie DegborPublished 3 years ago 1 min read
Unwavering love.

Little one, I held you close,

A fleeting moment in my arms.

A tiny life, so full of hope,

I bore a love that should have kept you warm.

But fate had other plans, it seems,

as she ripped you from my side.

Leaving me with mere dreams,

of the love I couldn't provide.

I never got to hold your hands,

or see your first steps on the ground.

To watch you grow, to understand

the joy of having you play around.

I never got to kiss away

your tears or chase your fears.

To show you how much I care,

To dry your eyes and wipe away your tears.

But if forever could fit into a minute,

it'd be locked in the seconds I spent with you.

My love for you, remains brighlty lit,

A flame to guide the unending path set before you.

So fly away, my precious child,

With a love that knows no end.

A mother's love, so pure and wild,

That will always call you 'friend'.
