For those I left behind

When the sun's ray kisses the horizon’s edge,

Yet my room holds no life, just the hollow stretch.

When no more sins can mark my name’s decree,

Yet so many selfish acts remain unpardoned, free.

When the morning greets you with the cuckoo's tender song,

Will you remember all we shared, the bond that was so strong?

In the dense, dark forest, light fades to a spark,

Just as I vanished within life’s infinite, shadowed arc.

If one day this fate finally comes to be,

And this world forever forgets all of me,

Know I regret none of the paths I trod,

Save the one where I gave you less than you deserved of God.

I hope it soothes the pain you’ve borne so deep,

The weight too heavy for your heart to keep.

Unwittingly, I dealt only sorrow’s hand,

Ignorance leaving little peace where I stand.

I wish that what remains, my fleeting trace,

Be not of cruel words spoken in haste.

So many things I said, careless and untrue,

None escaped the reckoning they were due.

For me, sleepless nights were spent, forlorn,

Countless weary hours wasted, worn.

Yet still, you never faltered, nor turned away,

Showering me with kindness every day.

Oh, how I wish I could give it all back—

The precious time you poured into my lack.

But I cannot undo, nor truly atone,

Nor erase the presence you’ve always known.

So I wish you peace, serenity unbound,

A life of joy, where blessings surround.

May hardship and sorrow keep their distance far,

And your path be bright beneath each guiding star.
