for the home stretch
a love poem
let's be the love that holds
through the breakdown.
let's be the love that's unafraid
to call for help from the toilet,
a love that ignores the food
stuck to our chins,
a muscle memory love
that
even after I don't know your face
still flutters
when you come in.

Even after I don't know your face, still flutters when you come in. Absolutely beautiful and what we all hope we can achieve in our older age. Nicely Done!!!
This made me think of my grandparents and the love they shared before their passing <3 Beautiful work!
Love this! Has my vote for first place. Pleased to see the Vocal curators think highly of it too.
This is so heartfelt, and touches beautifully on a unique aspect of a lasting love that I think many love poems overlook. So, so lovely, Dane; congratulations on the well-deserved recognition! :)
