In a world that begs me color blind
I absolutely refuse
For there is beauty in these hands we bind
And in its constant abuse
Look closer at the blue & green
At the shades from peach to umber
Promise me to see what they wish unseen
To always remember
She told me behind green eyes
It didnt matter their spots
Like a blaze of fire & rainbow cries
Ill paint the forget me nots
But what is light without the dark
The beauty in bruises blue
You wish me to see all things i embark
But it's the colors that make the things in you
You see a war so black and white
But if you just look closer you'd see
This isnt just their fight
They are distracting you for me

My poetry collection Beautiful and Brutal Things is done. It's actually done and finally published over 270 pages. Over a year of my life went into this book. More than a year, really. Long days at my computer, sometimes seven days a week because I couldn't stop even when I probably should have. Then two months of editing that felt harder than the writing itself.
