For Her

Like a butterfly, she has evolved
Like the seasons she has changed and found herself
Season by season, Bit by bit
But no one knows that

They know her as the carefree happy Woman
But not the journey
They know she is strong but not the extent
She is the heroine my mother told me tales about under the moon

And like the moon, she went through phases
Gracefully even though it seemed like she was missing parts
Parts she kept a secret

Like a tornado
She’s powerful
And leaves a mark wherever she goes
A misunderstood mark of newness
But that’s what makes her phenomenal
