For Colored Woman

Do I intimidate you?

Do my curvy hips and flawless thighs catch your eye

Do you stare when I walk and sashay down the street

Can you resist my curled plump lips when I speak

My smile big and white gleaming as it shines a pathway

Do your emotions change when I say my body is not for sale I'm simply using it as a display

My flawless brown skin beaming like the sun on hot day of July

My trophy of mine my beautiful dark skin I can never hide

Do I intimidate you?

Do my classiness comes to you as a surprise

Did you expect a ghetto sister that didn't know how to accessorize

Like Maya Angelou said "I'm not cute or I'm built to suit a fashion model's size"

That woman is a phenomenal woman

We all are phenomenal woman

Whether it's the way we walk or the way we talk

Whether it's the way we carry ourselves and treat ourselves

Whether it's the bounce in our hair

Or the sexy and compelling clothing that we wear

Is it the different tones in our skin that keeps you satisfied

A black queen like me you couldn't even get even if you tried

I look stubborn but I got my flaws

Woman like me probably wouldn't open that door

But hello we black woman you don't never know

It's the truth don't say I didn't tell you so....
