For a Friend

By Brianna Galligan

By Brianna Lynn GalliganPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

I wish you knew how beautiful you are

And how beautiful you can be.

I wish I had words that could make you see

What all others see.

I wish I could give you reasons

To do the things you should.

I wish I could give you strength

Just so you knew you could.

There is no reason for your pain

That others make you feel.

There is no reason for the horrors

That truly make us real.

There is no right in what they do

When you are only kind.

There is no right in what they say

When they speak because they’re blind.

You are the moon and stars to some

And serenity to more.

You are the light among the dark

And will be evermore.

You are the beauty in the lies

That steal you from the view.

You are the breath in the sighs

That tell us all is new.

It hurts to see you crying.

It hurts to see you down.

It hurts to know you feel

You need someone around.

It hurts to understand

The duties you feel are bound.

It hurts to know I can’t convince

That you are his ground..

If I could give you pleasantries

So you’d never have to cry,

If I could give you memories

The like that never die,

If I could give you reason

Or strength to carry on.

I would lift your head up high

And show you you’re not wrong.

I want you now to understand

How precious you are to me.

I want you just to comprehend,

For you I’ll always be.

I want you only just to know

The love I bear for you

For even in your darkest hour,

I will be there for you.
