As I wander through the winding trail,
Footsteps echoing, without fail,
Each step a beat, each beat a rhyme,
Guiding me through space and time.
Footsteps steady, in perfect pace,
A rhythm that I cannot erase,
With each step, a story unfolds,
A tale of wonder yet untold.
In every footprint that I leave,
A legacy that I'll retrieve,
Memories etched in every stride,
A journey I'll always abide.
Footsteps taken, in every place,
A life's adventure, to embrace,
With every step, a new surprise,
An adventure that never dies.
As I take each step in grace,
Footsteps leading me to a new place,
I'll take the journey, come what may,
My footsteps leading the way.

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.
