As I absent-mindedly dance

I picture myself in layered ballroom skirts

And 1920s heels, dancing in Bologna, Italy.

To the soundtrack of "Bella Ciao" I hear the saxophone improvise

And my mind wanders to the films I've watched about love.

In different ways to Mr Ripley, I am talented

My emotions malleable in a dynamic way,

Such is the world of the actor.

But moreover, it's interesting as the chorus comes and the Italian wedding vows continue

Since I heard that the ocean on this side of the world is warmer when it solidifies the friendship clasped in bracelets

Between girls screaming as they jump, together.

The ocean, instead of being hungry,

It shows its teeth as a friendly, protective thing

And lets them explore the joyous mysteries of pearls and corals.

Before inviting flying fish and dolphins to join the underworld hunt for Ariel's cave

And the contract she signed with the witch to gift her a life she thought would immediately be perfect...
