Flowers of old and new: Happy Valentines Day

-

By Melissa IngoldsbyPublished 11 months ago 1 min read

These are the flowers we picked and cut that one day with my son, mom

I keep them handy by the kitchen sink

It reminds me of you

Even if we don't get along

Or have troubles that cannot be easily split

I'll look at the flowers, I will think of you
The freshness has worn, weathered and dried

But for some reason, even when I'm sad

The color of the flowers have remained

Reminding me of keeping faith, hope

Love inside

The colors are still so bright, keeping its own hue

Mom, it helps me through

Yes, like you

I love you mom, Have a colorful Valentine’s Day

The same flowers, older

Simply an emotionally beautiful work of poetry Melissa - thank you for sharing this with us all. Makes me realise what and why I do much the very same kind of thing on Valentine's Day.
