Flowers in my Field of Feelings
By: A.M Minnittee

Rooted in the nerves running through my chest,
little green buds sprout from the pain.
Flowers bloom and pulse in gentle waves,
as scarlet petals flow freely through my veins.
*
My body a flush field of emotion painting a classical scene,
unbeknownst to me whatever the meaning may be,
as the scent of lavenders sprigs and sadness lull me softly to sleep.
*
Still, I water them and feel the warmth of the sun burn my tongue
as flowers spill from my throat and lungs every time spring comes
Because I know that standing in an empty field
helps you feel nothing but intensely numb.
