Flowers Anyway

Even on your worst day

Thankful for the days rainbows came before rain

Thankful for the nights rivers streamed down my face

Because I wouldn’t be where I am

Without a little pain

Grateful for the girl who said no to the dance

Grateful for the girl who didn’t give it a chance

Because I wouldn’t be where I am

Without a little pain

Then came you

You said to listen

As I watched sweat glisten on your sun kissed skin

You’re not like the other ones

Lonelier in nature, lonely by choice

Dry you off with my favorite towel

Ran all this way to stop me

A special one

Loving is in your nature, loving me by choice

Even on your worst days

I’ll bring flowers anyway

Thankful for the days of broken hearts

Those days taught me to be an artist

Because I wouldn’t be where I am today

Without so much pain

Grateful that I’m breathing still

Even when you steal my breath at will

Because I wouldn’t be where I am today

Without so much pain

There is you

I said I’m listening

Even if you’re not the last call shot like I’m envisioning

We’re not like the other ones

Healing in nature, healing by choice

Lather me up in your favorite scent

To hide the smoke from Parliaments

Like lovers covering up each other’s past wounds

I love you now even if I’m not the last to love you

And even on my worst days

You accept my flowers anyway

love poems
