Floods

poem

By glenn washingtonPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

In fields of green, where waters once did flow

A deluge came, and all was lost in woe

The rivers swelled, their banks did break

And floodwaters rushed, like an angry shake

The crops were drowned, the trees uprooted

The creatures fled, their homes devastated

The villagers, they wept and wailed

As waters rose, their hope failed

But then, as suddenly as it began

The rains subsided, the sun broke through

The waters receded, leaving behind

A trail of destruction, yet new life to find

The earthy scent, so rich and sweet

Invigorates the soul, a treat

For those who survived the flood's might

To rebuild and start anew, tonight

So let us not forget, this test of strength

That brought us low, but also gave us length

Of resilience, of community and love

That carried us above, sent from above
