Flicker and Dim

For Ashlie

How well you wear the dawn on your skin

I’m lost in your morning stained hair again

The magical and lyrical way you touch me then

Your blue-grey eyes flicker and dim

The atmosphere is made clear that you want me to be near you, near you

Amongst the sheets my bare feet make their way across to meet you, meet you

How well the brush runs through your hair

How well you wear that dress you wear

I am paused for a moment and stare

When beauty and magic intertwine just there

Your eyes that shine so very fine make it so I can’t take mine off you, off you

As you sway through the hallway, brightens every dark day when I’m with you, with you

We shrug off the night, a nibble and bite

Brings a smile to your face, in the early light

A whine from the kettle, our sign to settle

At our special place, rest away the devil

Wipe from our eyes the sable skies and by the time we realize it’s through, it's through

Off we run, the daylight comes and when everything's done I’ll be with you, with you, whispering

Come and drink with me

This morning tea, sweet Ashlie

At our table, set for two

Come and drink with me

This Irish spring, my lovely queen

At our table set for two

How well you wear the dusk on your skin
