Flee!

Don't Look Back

By OliverPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

"Go away soon!

Don't look back

Don't let me keep your dreams and be part of your sleepless nights.

Don't let me trespass your feelings,

Don't let me kill the love you possess

And make you see that life tastes like bile.

Run away, escape while you still can.

I'll pretend to look the other way

That my heart hasn't observed you.

Because you don't deserve to gaze upon this monster

That hides behind sadness

Without a trace of delicacy,

Who is afraid to make you its prey

And once again stay amidst these burdensome ruins.

Long ago, it became a lover of loneliness

That doesn't allow it to dream.

That constantly whispers in its ear

That it's a failure and wounded,

That it knows it has so much to give and prefers to isolate itself from reality.

That it hides its tears within its nightmares

That it prefers to remain silent than to wait for the past to fade away someday.

That stones are its pillow and eternal roots have grown into the earth

That the world isn't as bad as its mind portrays it

That it has grown accustomed to seeing only shadows, for the light blinded it long ago.

Let it go, don't turn back, don't look at what my eyes say

Let my mouth not utter words to hold onto love

Let ulcers form on my tongue

And let it go

Don't listen to the pleas that emerge from within

Let my face display only hatred,

Because I don't want to express what I feel.

May that secret love be forever

And may I carry it in my grave, stored like sepulchral silence."
