FIVE AND TWO
The weekends were blues and greens.
The weekdays, warm colors of the sun:
Evening reds,
And oranges;
Bright magenta
Maybe.
The weekends were
Film,
Bach,
Antique shops,
Smell of coffee,
Hamburgers.
Intense quiet.
Weekdays were
A delicate matter—
Eggshells everywhere—
Be sweet,
Hide (inside the dollhouse);
Tofu and brown rice.
Don’t ask too many questions.
I also had two first names.
One used on the weekend.
One used during the weekdays.
I wore blues and greens on weekends.
Red and orange were for weekdays.
Split parents divorced personality.
Cult during the week.
I wear a lot of black and grey.
My name is neither what it was before,
Nor my great weal, which
Is my passion for color.
