Fish Brick Cake - A First Baking Experience

Highlight of my Day

She once tried to bake a cake.

But it turned out like a mistake.

It was burnt to a crisp.

And tasted like a fishy fish!

Sitting by the window, mom and I were enjoying pumpkin pie when my younger sister stormed into the kitchen. Snatching a slice of pumpkin pie, she told us that she was going to bake a cake - a very easy recipe she saw on YouTube. With that, she gathered the ingredients and turned to us, confidently stating that she didn't want any help.

I had a bad feeling. Maybe I should take cover. Looking at my mom, I could tell she was having similar thoughts. The batter was ready, and she poured it into the molds and popped it in the oven. As she cleaned up the mess, she began to pace. I asked her to have a seat, explaining that it would take time to bake, but she looked at me as if I didn't know anything, before murmuring, "It's an easy recipe and gets ready in a jiffy."

Now it was our turn to look confused, and then we heard a 'Ding!'. It had only been roughly 10 minutes - what kind of cake did she bake? As soon as she opened the oven, the entire kitchen was filled with a disgusting fish scent. If the smell was any indication, I wouldn't be taking a bite of this.

The end result of the failed baking was a rock-hard cake with a fishy scent. Needless to say, no one ate it. The brick cake ended up in the trash outside.

Anyway, that trash-gone cake could strengthen your family bond I bet. Nice Stari!

This is a lovely hilarious retelling of a baking catastrophe gone awry. The verse, "It was burnt to a crisp, And tasted like a fishy fish!" left me smiling, just capturing the catastrophe. It is a sentimental, human story of kitchen blunders and teen hubris.🌞

  • Hahahahahahhahaahahahaha what kinda cake gets burnt in 10 minutes and has a fishy smell??? What did she put inside the batter?

That was really funny. Kind of reminds me when I go to baking, my husband’s always looking over my shoulder, asking me in my following the directions.
