High up in the sky where the water vapors collide

And form a flaky crystal even on six sides

Slowly calm and gently it falls down to the ground

One and then another until it forms a mound.

The children come out happily bundled head to toe.

Many come together as they roll up balls of snow.

They make them one by one, pile one upon another.

They make a mom and dad, a sister and a brother.

School was cancelled to all the children’s glee.

They stayed outside to play, their parents let them be.

Some would build a castle that they can go inside.

Who can build the biggest was such a source of pride.

Then they built a fort which was an awesome sight.

For It was the start of the year’s first snowball fight.

Laughter filled the air as they threw white balls of fluff.

They threw 5, 10, 20, Just one was not enough.

The sun was sinking low, toward the horizon it did fall.

Every kid around town heard their mother’s call.

It was time for dinner, they’ve been outside all day.

Tomorrow was the weekend, again they could play.

For now, they needed warmth, a cup of hot cocoa.

Awaiting them tomorrow was another day of snow.
