As I grip the wheel
A smile comes to my face
Key turns, ignition
The engine's alive
All of its cylinders fire
Sweeping its gauges
I caress the wheel
My hand moves to the shifter
The brake's still pressed down
Park, Reverse, Neutral
Drive... I lift up my right foot
"And away we go."
I step on the gas
Its engine responds to me
A slight smile grows
Movement gives Freedom
I can go where there are roads
I will go from here to there
Freedom's Everywhere
I can only run so far
So, I drive my car
I run cross country
My car can go cross country
Tireless Machine
There's four doors, not two
Automatic, a six-speed
It's not a sport car
It's not the best trim
There's no fancy spinning rims
Not New, Old & Used
It's not the fastest
But it will get up and go
I love its purring
I like other cars
I get a sense of car lust
But my car, I trust
I will be thankful
To my car I am grateful
My car protects me
From its sturdy frame
To its four wheels on the road
This car is my car
