If fire scares my soul

then I am blind.

I've been searching for the coal,

But my heart can't find.

*

My mind recognizes flames

but only the sparks in air.

I hate those hide 'n seek games

they never quite seem fair.

*

They tell me to ignite

and to let the fire soar.

To tap into inner light

and it'll only expand more.

*

But as fire can dance inside me

it can also burn my mind.

The ash blacker than it should be

Because I am blind.
