I found myself today.

Not in the sense of finding your keys

per se

But more in the way I floated through this timeline

-

When a match strikes a box,

There’s your flame

When the matches don’t want to be

An idea of a flame

Or have the courage to even be there,

That’s when you’ll find the most self

-

I struck mine today,

Since one couldn’t have bore

To have grasped my hands yesterday

I was safe where I was yesterday

Within these 4 walls an attempt to

Create a flame

Is impossible

-

I was safe because the fire didn’t start

I was safe because it required no effort,

I was safe because the fire hadn’t

Touched my heart

“The flame will swallow me whole!”

I told myself, not knowing what it was

beyond the flame

In its ember

There it was

My search halted

Or so I thought

-

Let me rephrase: I found a part of myself today.

Of course parts will have no more wick

And some will be burning brighter than others!

There are some still with beeswax,

there are some whose are half melted

-

All I know

Is that my burning flame,

Is mine to make
